Dr. Ts. Hj. Muhtar bin Suhaili Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Berhad

As the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of EPIC Berhad, a leading integrated solutions provider for the oil and gas industry in Malaysia, Muhtar oversees the strategy, operations and performance of the group and its subsidiaries and joint ventures in the oil and gas, port management, logistics sector, and renewable energy. He has more than 20 years of experience in oil, gas and energy industry, engineering, project management, international business, and continuous improvement. He is also currently serving as an EXCO Member for the Malaysian Oil, Gas & Energy Services Council (MOGSC). Muhtar holds a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration. He also holds a Master of Technology in Petroleum Technology from Curtin University of Technology Australia, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics Engineering from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He is a Professional Technologist (Oil & Gas), Adjunct Professor at the Department of Engineering Technology (Mechatronic), University College TATI (UC TATI) as well as an Industry Advisor to four universities namely IIUM, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), UniKL-MITEC and Curtin University Malaysia. Muhtar has completed the Certificate in Leadership Principles at Harvard Business School and the Executive Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, to enhance his leadership skills and strategic thinking. His mission is to drive business growth, innovation, and excellence for EPIC Berhad and its stakeholders, while empowering the people and communities we serve, leveraging his expertise and network in the oil, gas and energy sector. Muhtar has successfully managed various multi-million projects, contracts, and businesses, both locally and overseas, in collaboration with diverse teams and partners. Prior to joining EPIC Berhad in December 2022 as Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO), Muhtar was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC), and had also worked for Shell for 15 years and Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd. He had also served as the Chairman of the Malaysian Palm Oil Certification Council (MPOCC). Muhtar has experience working in Malaysia and overseas, namely The Netherlands and Germany, and gained exposure and insights from visiting more than 40 countries across the world too. Muhtar is very passionate about humanitarian work, industrial development, youth growth, and people empowerment. He has participated and presented in various national and international conferences on these topics and is involved in numerous Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) as well as social, education, and healthcare missions. Muhtar is committed to developing the capabilities and talents of his staff and ensuring a robust succession planning for the organization.
