Pearl Lai is the Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of Carlsberg Malaysia Group, covering its Malaysian and Singaporean operations. Also acting as the Group’s Chief Sustainability Officer, she leads the development and implementation of its sustainability and climate-related strategy, embedding sustainability considerations across business operations, risk management, performance monitoring and reporting. She also oversees corporate communications, public affairs and stakeholder engagement.
With more than two decades of experience spanning corporate communications, sustainability, reputation management and stakeholder relations, Pearl has supported initiatives across brewery transformation, climate-related disclosures, circularity and supplier engagement, helping translate the Group’s sustainability commitments into practical business action.
Since leading Carlsberg Malaysia’s integrated annual reporting journey in 2021, Pearl has supported the continued development of the Group’s ESG disclosures and sustainability reporting practices, strengthening transparency around its environmental, social and governance performance. These efforts have contributed to the Group’s external ESG recognition, including an MSCI AAA rating and inclusion in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index.
Beyond Carlsberg Malaysia, Pearl represents the Group on the Council of the Confederation of Malaysian Brewers Berhad, serves on the Board of EUROCHAM Malaysia and is Chairperson of the Danish Chamber of Commerce Malaysia. She believes sustainable growth is achieved when purpose, operational excellence and collaboration come together to build a more resilient and future-ready business.
